The process of getting ducts checked and sealed in older homes is highly recommended since aging ductwork is more likely to be prone to gaps and leaks. These defects will result in lower home energy efficiency and the overall quality of your indoor air.
For residents of the Delaware Valley, there’s a good chance you live in an older home. Housing statistics show that there are nearly 2.7 million housing units in our region and about 575,000 were built in 1939 or earlier! On the other end of the scale, approximately 135,000 homes have been built in the Delaware Valley since 2010.*
At Wilson Oil and Propane, we recommend our FREE ductwork inspection to our customers, regardless of the age of a home. For example, when customers in newer homes report comfort problems related to air flow or indoor air quality, we sometimes find their ductwork has not been installed properly and needs to be corrected and sealed.
In older homes, the ductwork may have been installed properly but over time, it has just deteriorated and requires repairs. If you have leaks and gaps in your old ducts, you will be affected by reduced indoor air quality, including excessive dust and allergens.
Leaky ductwork also compromises system efficiency and makes your HVAC system work harder than it should to keep your home comfortable. If parts of your ductwork are leaking air, this could increase your annual energy costs by as much as 30%. Your home will also not feel as comfortable as it should be.
The Aeroseal process we use is designed to seal the leaks in your duct system—even the ones hidden behind walls and under your home’s insulation. These hidden areas account for about 90% of your total ductwork.
Wilson Oil and Propane is an authorized dealer for Aeroseal duct sealing. This advanced technology is considered by most experts to be the premier method for sealing ducts available today. Aeroseal has been used in thousands of homes, schools, hospitals, and government installations throughout the country and the world.
The U.S. Department of Energy has proclaimed Aeroseal technology to be one of the top 23 most important energy conservation technologies for consumers to be released since the department was first established in 1977.
Once your ducts are properly sealed, you will save more than just money on energy costs. You will also improve:

The duct sealing process usually takes less than one day to finish and we will provide you with a “Certificate of Completion” that illustrates the before and after results. On average, we’ve been able to reduce air leakage by up to 90% through the Aeroseal process. The Aeroseal product is entirely non-toxic and we back it up with a 10-year warranty.
