Well, we’re all in the midst of the dog days of August, and besides doing our best to cope with the heat, we also have to sweat through some oppressive days with high humidity levels (moisture in the air). Sometimes, during those hot and humid days, it feels as if you could cut the air with a butter knife! But at least we can escape inside and cool off in our air conditioned home, right?
Not always. During the summer, removing unwanted humidity in your home is a primary function of your home’s air conditioning system. But in some cases, your air conditioning system may not be able to remove all of the excess moisture from your home.
When a home feels hot and humid, most people react the same way: they “crank up” the air conditioner. This may make the house feel cooler, but the air will still feel heavy and your skin will feel clammy because you haven’t eliminated the excess humidity.
Besides making you feel uncomfortable; too much moisture trapped in your indoor air encourages the growth of mold and mildew.
We can help you control the levels of humidity inside your home. Ideally, you want these levels to be within 40-50%. Going below or above that range will make your home feel less comfortable.
The appropriate humidity levels help your home feel cool in the summer and warm in the winter. During colder months, you will face the opposite problem because your home’s humidity often becomes too low. Lack of moisture in the air can cause skin irritations, dried out sinuses, damage to hardwood floors and furniture and overall discomfort. In this case, a whole-house humidification system can be a good solution to help you manage your home humidity levels.
If proper humidity levels are not maintained, your home will feel uncomfortable and you may even become prone to respiratory ailments. Too much or too little humidity can also cause damage to the inside and outside of your home.
Humidity control systems are designed to increase your home comfort and decrease your risk of humidity related health issues.
