We are firmly committed to green energy solutions that not only protect the environment but also enhance comfort and convenience for our customers and save money over the long term.

That’s why we now deliver Bioheat® fuel to all of our customers instead of traditional heating oil. Bioheat is a heating fuel made by mixing ultra-low-sulfur heating oil with biodiesel—a renewable energy resource produced in America that’s often made from the fatty acids found in soy, corn and other vegetable oils.

This year, we increased the percentage of biodiesel in our Bioheat blend to 20%. This is called B20 Bioheat and it burns cleaner than natural gas because it generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions

The most refined grade of heating oil available, Bioheat is the one of the cleanest burning heating sources for your home or business. Bioheat requires no modifications to your existing heating system.

What’s in the future for fuel?

The combination of continually improving ultra-low sulfur Bioheat with increasingly efficient heating oil systems is the 1-2 punch that will help homeowners with oilheat save significant money on their heating bills. At the same time, their homes will be on the path to becoming carbon-neutral.

Last year, leaders from the Northeast’s heating oil industry unanimously passed a resolution to achieve net-zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for heating oil by 2050. This means your oilheat will have a carbon footprint of zero. The resolution calls for a 15% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, based on 1990 levels, by 2023, and a 40% reduction by 2030.

To achieve the targets outlined by the resolution, every heating oil retailer in the Northeast must adopt increasing blends of Bioheat with clean, ultra-low sulfur fuel. To achieve the 2030 target, the standard Bioheat fuel blend must be at least B20 like ours.
