Over the years, many people new to Wilson Oil and Propane have discovered that they didn’t have to replace their entire heating (or cooling) system to feel more comfortable and save money on energy. They just needed to call us in so we could do a complete evaluation of their equipment and then correct flaws. Here’s why this is more common than you might think.

Energy-efficiency ratings for heating and cooling systems are calculated in a laboratory setting. But when those systems get installed in a home, those efficiency ratings can drop drastically if the contractor does not install the system according to manufacturer specifications. Failure by the homeowner to maintain their equipment properly can reduce energy efficiency further.

In fact, a study of over 1,000 homes across the country showed that consumers were short-changed on energy efficiency because of a poor equipment installation and lax maintenance.*
