It is difficult to know when your fuel tank might need replacing because tanks corrode from the inside out. The most common cause of oil tank failure is corrosion inside the tank. Your tank may look perfect from the outside, but its inner walls could be failing.

Modern oil and propane fuel tanks are designed with double protection against leaks. New aboveground models have a leak-proof inner lining of plastic or fiberglass and an outer wall of corrosion-resistant steel. Today’s underground tanks are also double-walled and many are made of plastic or fiberglass so they can’t corrode. Now considered leak-proof, they too provide worry-free fuel storage and convenience.

Although not common, fuel leaks can happen with older tanks. For peace of mind, Wilson Oil and Propane offers ProGuard® protection for both underground and aboveground tanks, whether they are inside or outside of your home. ProGuard offers serious spill protection and is available for all of our service plan customers.
