Have you noticed frost or ice forming on your outside central air conditioner lines? Do you feel warm air blowing from your vents when you’re a/c is running? These could be signs that your a/c is low on refrigerant. The outdoor portion of your system experiences wear and tear from the elements and often leaks are not visible to the naked eye. During our annual tune-up and inspection, our technicians check the level of refrigerant to be sure your system is performing optimally.

Refrigerant is what your system uses to transfer heat from inside to outside your home. When refrigerant is low, it can indicate that there is a leak somewhere in your system. Freon, the main refrigerant used in a/c systems is being phased out and replaced with refrigerant that is not harmful to the ozone layer. Because of this, the price of Freon is continuing to rise. Adding Freon to your system is going to become more expensive over time.

If you find that your system is not cooling your home the way it once was or if your system needs to be recharged annually, it may be time to consider a new, high efficiency system that uses a more economical and environmentally friendly refrigerant.
