Lessons Learned from This Delaware Valley Winter

Dog wearing a scarf in snow

This winter was extraordinary at times—particularly during that brutal two-week stretch of super-frigid temperatures in late December and early January. Those kinds of temperatures, combined with our usual snow and ice storms, create challenges for everyone in the home comfort business. The extreme cold put extra strain on heating systems and people used a lot more fuel than usual.

Throughout this time, we hoped we showed that the people you can trust always try our best to come through for you, no matter how rough the conditions. Of course, we weren’t perfect (who is?) and we regret the small percentage of our customers who did run out of fuel. Again, please know we did our best. If the high volume of incoming calls from frantic non-customers who were abandoned by their oil dealer were any indication, we did better than most.

Thanks to all the work we did getting customers’ systems tuned up in the fall, most of these folks did not suffer any breakdowns during the extreme cold. Anyone who doubts the benefits of preventive maintenance, please take note! And when it comes to improving the energy efficiency of your heating system, one of the best things you can do is to schedule an annual system tune-up. And the best time to do it is in the spring so you can beat the “fall rush” and get the most convenient appointment.

At Wilson Oil and Propane, we all love what we do for a living, and taking care of our customers is a big part of that. We’re particularly proud of the long hours, effort, care and goodwill that our people put into their jobs—this winter and throughout the year.

With much warmer days ahead of us, we hope you’ll give us a call to talk about any of the ways we can help you keep more comfortable, save money and get you fully prepared for next winter!
