Four Ways to Lessen Worries

Worry-free

Posted: February 27, 2017

Whatever the time of year, it’s always a good idea to pay attention to keeping your home as safe and comfortable as possible. Here are four ways that will provide you with greater peace of mind.

  1. Install carbon monoxide (CO) detectors: Carbon monoxide is an odorless gas that is produced during the combustion process, including furnaces, boilers, propane stoves and portable generators. Have a certified technician from Wilson Oil and Propane inspect your heating system, water heater and any other gas- or oil-burning appliances on a regular basis. Always have functional CO detectors in your home (especially near bedrooms) and check the batteries regularly.
  2. Discuss an emergency preparedness plan with your family—and review it regularly so everyone stays safe during a power outage or other emergency.
  3. If you lose your power, turn off any lights and appliances that were operating when the outage occurred. This reduces the risk of a power surge once electricity returns. You can leave at least one light on so you will know when power has been restored.
  4. Improve indoor air quality: Poor indoor air quality can aggravate common maladies like colds and allergies. Indoor air quality products such as air cleaners and air purifiers can help eliminate these symptoms. You may also be a good candidate for Aeroseal duct sealing. You can take our Comfort Survey here. Ask us for a FREE duct leakage inspection before March 31 and save $200 on this service.
