Pick 5 Challenge 2015 - First Responders

When you have roots in the area as deep as ours, it always makes you think about giving back to the community. While we have supported many different organizations and charities over the years we have been in business, we have always longed to do even more. That’s how the Fueled Up & Fired Up Pick 5 Challenge came about.

As many of you may or may not know, five years ago we approached the Nether Providence Township supervisors wanting to sponsor a race/event to celebrate Wilson’s 85 years in business. They suggested that we team up with an existing event that had been raising money for the First Responders in our township. We renamed and branded the event to the Fueled Up & Fired Up Pick 5 Challenge to incorporate our chosen beneficiary, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Philadelphia Chapter.

Fast forward four years later, I would like to thank all of our sponsors who donated money and/or raffle prizes, along with the more than 100 participants who came out to support our event this past fall. As a result, I can proudly announce that we were able to raise over $20,000, which was an increase over 2013, and that the Fueled Up & Fired Up Pick 5 Challenge, combined with our Susan G. Komen for the Cure pink truck campaign, has allowed us to donate more than $60,000 to these worthy local organizations.

Once again, you have my sincere thanks for helping us make small yet positive differences in the lives of many.

Warmly,
David O’Connell,
President
