sincere thanks to each of you
Dear Friends,

On Sept. 30, Wilson Oil and Propane hosted 200 of our customers at a Phillies game. Tickets were distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and they went fast. As it turned out, the Phillies clinched the division title on the night we went. A fun time was had by all.

“Taking you out to the ballgame” was our way of showing our customers how much they are appreciated. I honestly wish I could have filled Citizens Bank Park with Wilson customers, but at least everyone had a fair chance at tickets. We are hoping to make this an annual event. If you want us to keep you posted, please go to our website and submit your email.
quality control—it works
So far this has been one of the coldest winters in memory, and yet we have had fewer service calls this year than during the same period last year. Why? It’s because of the Tune-Up Quality Check program we started several years ago. Under this program, a separate Quality Team visits the customer’s home to inspect the work being done.

To me, this program proves that keeping an eye on quality really works, and I am very gratified that it has resulted in improved customer satisfaction.

My thanks to each of you for your loyalty to Wilson Oil and Propane. We are honored that you have chosen us to keep you warm and safe.
Warmly,
David O’Connell
P.S. FYI for Phillies fans: Wilson customer Jim Hartzell is planning a trip to spring training. Be sure to see the enclosed flyer.

new heating system will save you money
The federal tax credit for energy efficient home improvements has worked out great for people who have upgraded their heating system to one with greater efficiency, but this program won’t last forever.

In fact, it expires at the end of the year. So if you are thinking about a new heating system, it’s time to get off the fence. We offer many systems that qualify for the tax credit, including one that could save you $1,500!

Many people don’t realize that if their current system is 15 years old or older, any upgrade to new equipment is bound to save them money. That’s because it can cut your fuel use by as much as 30%. Do the math for your household and you’ll see how this could amount to a considerable savings.

To learn more about how you can save hundreds of dollars a year on fuel costs and benefit from the federal tax credit, simply return the enclosed reply card or go to WilsonOilandPropane.com. Remember too that Wilson has financing solutions to help make your new system a reality.
Put Propane to work for you

propane FAQs from Wilson
People who are new to propane often have questions about this versatile fuel. Here are some common questions and our answers.
Q: Is propane safe?
A: Propane is a combustible gas, but its distribution and use is so well regulated that it has an excellent safety record. Propane dealers adhere to codes and standards developed by the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), the world’s leading advocate of fire prevention and an authoritative source on public safety. NFPA Publication 58 is the definitive source for LP-Gas safety requirements, and all of our delivery and service personnel are thoroughly familiar with these guidelines.
Q: What is involved in a propane installation?
A: If you are adding propane service for the first time, you will need a propane tank, either an aboveground tank or, if you require a large supply of propane on hand, an underground tank. Service lines will be installed, based on the kind and number of propane appliances in your home. For most appliances, hookup to the service lines is a simple procedure. Wilson has installed propane service for many customers, and we can do the same for you, with minimal disruption to your daily routine.
Q: Do you offer a service plan for my propane equipment?
A: Yes. Our Gas Plan includes a comprehensive precision tune-up of your propane heating equipment to keep it running properly, safely and efficiently. You’ll receive a discount on any repairs you may need, you will not be charged overtime for emergency repairs, and you will receive priority service. We’ll be happy to tell you all about it. Please call us or return the enclosed reply card.
Q: How do I know when I need more propane?
A: Newer tanks have an easy-to-read gauge for checking how much propane you have left. When the the gauge approaches 10%–15%, give us a call at (610) 566-7600. We’ll schedule a delivery within the next 24 hours. To save yourself the trouble of monitoring your tank and calling for deliveries, consider our automatic delivery service. We’ll track your fuel level and deliver more fuel when you need it—so you never have to worry about running out.

why PROPANE is better than electricity

Electricity works fine while rates are low, but what happens if rates are deregulated? As of this writing, it is highly likely that PECO will raise electric rates when their rate cap expires Dec. 31, 2010. If you depend on electricity for heating your home and/or your water, you may be in for some serious sticker shock.
We asked Brian Egan, our sales manager here at Wilson, to shed some light on why, when it comes to heating and other household power needs, there is a better way than electricity

Q: Why do some people still heat their homes with electricity?
A: Usually it’s because an electric heating system was there when they moved in. When I ask customers who finally made the switch to propane heat why they didn’t do it sooner, they usually tell me they thought switching would be expensive and complicated.
Most of these folks were aware that the cost of electric heat can rise dramatically if it is deregulated, making them vulnerable to price hikes. But they thought the cost of switching would outweigh any savings. Every customer I am aware of who has made the change is very happy with their decision, knowing they have their own fuel supply on hand and that they don’t have to worry about rising electric rates any more.

Q: Isn’t it expensive to switch from electric heat to propane?
A: Like any home improvement, there is an initial upfront investment to change from electricity to propane. But once you have made the switch, you are no longer at the mercy of your electric company. You have a ready supply of fuel that’s always on hand, and, as you already know, you can rely on Wilson for reliable deliveries and expert service.
Heating with propane is also better for the environment because most electricity comes from power plants that burn coal, one of the most polluting of all power sources.

Q: Is it possible to use both heating oil and propane?
A: Yes. Propane and heating oil complement one another very well. Heating oil is an effective economical way to heat your home. Propane has many uses— from cooking your meals to drying your clothes to providing a ready supply of hot water at a moment’s notice.
Wilson can install a propane-fired tankless water heater in your home, usually in just one day, including the installation of an aboveground propane tank.
when their lights go out, yours will go on

Best of all, your generator is powered by reliable propane. With your own fuel supply on-site, you will have plenty of fuel to weather the storm comfortably until the utility trucks get through. Having emergency backup power also offers tremendous peace of mind, especially when a major storm is in the forecast. Right now, Wilson Oil and Propane is offering special manufacturer’s savings and attractive financing on Carrier standby generators. unlimited hot water on demand
If you heat your water with electricity, you’ll always have to worry about rate hikes. Wilson has a better way: a propane-fueled tankless water heater. Because there is no tank, these compact units can be mounted on the wall. The tankless design also means that you won’t waste energy dollars keeping gallons and gallons of water hot.

With a tankless system, you get virtually unlimited hot water on demand. And remember, you’ve got your own on-site fuel supply, so no matter what happens, as long as you have propane you’ll have plenty of hot water for showers.
Here’s more good news. Some high-efficiency tankless water heaters qualify for the federal tax credit for energy efficient home improvements; the tax credit could take 30% off the purchase price. Call us today to learn more about tankless water heaters—the smarter way to heat your water.
a night to remember
After wracking our brains for a way to thank our customers, it was a customer, Dana Hoffer of Wallingford, who came up with the perfect solution: tickets to a Phillies game. So on Sept. 30, we took 200 of our customers out to the ball game, and as luck would have it, it turned out to be the night the Phillies clinched the National League East division title.
As you probably know, we notified all of our customers about the ticket giveaway, but the tickets didn’t last long. To make a long story short, a fun time was had by all. In fact, based on the success of our September outing, we’re thinking about doing it again. This year we’ll be notifying you via email, so if you are interested, please submit your email address at: https://myaccount.wilsonoilandpropane.com/login.
In the mean time, here’s some great news for all of you Phillies fans: Wilson customer Jim Hartzell has put together a spring training weekend to see the Phillies play the Yankees. For more information, see the enclosed flyer or call Jim at (610) 789-7148. Go Phillies!
