As you think about moving, we can help you make your home more marketable by seeing to it that all of your home’s comfort equipment is in peak condition.

You can add thousands of dollars to the value of your home by replacing old outdated equipment. If your heating equipment is more than 20 years old, you might think about installing a new high-efficiency system. A new heating system can lower energy consumption—and fuel costs—up to 30% a year.

Likewise, replacing an outdated a/c system can increase your home’s market value. Today’s reliable energy-efficient systems can sharply lower air conditioning costs.

Maintain your equipment
If your heating/cooling equipment doesn’t need to be replaced, it’s a good idea to have it tuned up. Regular tune-ups can restore heating and cooling systems to factory-fresh condition—which significantly lowers energy costs. More important, annual equipment service can catch and correct small problems before they become more serious and expensive to fix—and can detract from your home’s value.

Don’t let your sale go into the tank
The condition of your home’s oil storage tank can make or break a sale. We would be happy to discuss tank protection programs or alternatives for replacing your tank.

More tips
As the date of your move approaches, here are some steps to make things easier:

Get a few estimates from moving or truck rental companies.

Make a list of your possessions and start removing clutter, especially in storage areas.

Hold a garage sale.

Start a file for all of  your moving paperwork.

Transfer your children’s school records.

Complete post office change-of-address cards.

Schedule the disconnection of all utility services at your old home and their connection at your new one.

Pack a box of items that you’ll need right away at your new home. Take it yourself or clearly mark the box, "Load Last."

If you’re using a moving company, check your belongings carefully before and after the move, and make note of any damaged items.
