Q: Do you use your own installation specialists or do you hire subcontractors?
A: We use only our own certified, factory-trained technicians. We never hire subcontractors. Our technicians are the most highly trained in the industry. To use subcontractors would be like taking a step down. Your comfort and our reputation are too important to put in anyone else’s hands.

Q: How long does it take to get an estimate on a new heating and/or cooling system?
A: Usually it’s only a matter of hours. We can come out to your home at your convenience, during the day or in the evening. We can be there today if you'd like.

Q: Approximately how long does it take you to complete an installation of a heating or cooling system?
A: Most of our installations are done in a day, though every job is different and some take longer than others.

Q: Would I save money if I converted to another fuel or electricity?
A: Because heating fuels are measured differently (in gallons, therms or kilowatt hours), the best way to compare prices is to look at the cost for each fuel to produce the same amount of heat. A common way to do this is in dollars per million BTU's. When using this method, heating oil has been the clear winner for more than 10 years because it packs more BTU's of heat than natural gas, propane or electricity.

Q: How are fuel prices set?
A: Heating fuels like oil, natural gas and propane are traded on the commodities market, where prices go up and down like they do in the stock market. Heating oil, propane and natural gas prices are affected by global politics, demand and many other factors.

Q: Which is cheaper: oil, propane or natural gas?
A: According to the U.S. Department of Energy, between 1993 and 2003, heating oil prices in Pennsylvania have averaged 18 cents a gallon less than an equivalent amount of natural gas. Traditionally, oil has been less expensive than propane too.

Q: At what temperature should I set my thermostat?
A: Different people feel comfortable at different temperatures. Pay less attention to the numbers on the thermostat display (or the position of the temperature indicator on a nondigital display) and more to how comfortable the room feels to you. When you feel comfortable, check the setting. That’s the right temperature for you.

Q: What is the fan "auto/on" switch on the thermostat used for?
A: When the switch is in the "on" position, the fan runs constantly; it gives you constant air circulation. You can use the fan "on" setting to reduce temperature variations in a multistory home. When the switch is in the "auto" position, the fan cycles on and off with the rest of the heating or cooling system.

Q: Should I install a programmable thermostat?
A: Absolutely! Programmable thermostats are especially useful for people who are away from home at regular intervals. They allow for customized comfort settings around-the-clock, and they can cut heating and cooling costs by as much as 33%! See our Thermostats page for more information or call us for a free brochure and estimate.

Q: Which methods of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover. We also offer dealer-sponsored financing for new equipment and installations.
